„Dear friends,

As you may have heard, AOL laid off hundreds of Patch editors Friday morning.  I was among them.
I had an amazing 3-year run with this hyperlocal news network, first as founding editor of La Mesa Patch and for the past 17 months as associate regional editor for south and central San Diego County. I won nearly a dozen writing, photography and other awards. I learned a lot.
But my focus now is landing a new job.
I have several irons in the fire, but I don’t want to overlook anything. So let me know if you’re aware of any work up my writing-editing-blogging alley, including freelance projects.  I’m also expert at social media and SEO, having trained with the experts at AOL.
I got a two-month severance, so I’m not in a huge rush.
Thanks for keeping me and Chris in your thoughts.  I’m grateful for your friendship.
